Is there a plugin API in Xcode (4)?
I miss a lot of the brilliant extensions made for VS2008 and VS2010. ReSharper, Telerik, misc database plugins etc. are all good tools that enhance VS and makes it so good. That way some of the itches that Apple can't or won't scratch could be done by other developers.

You can use almost anything with a tripod for landscapes, and add in AutoPano Pro if you want to stitch. Macro is a different beast- insects or static subjects? The Tamron 90mm SP Di is a great choice as is the Nikon 105mm, consider the Sigma 150mm macro if you need the working distance.

I tend to do static objects mostly but will occasionally take pictures of the odd insects. But to be honest, I'm not looking for lenses for that until next year when I get some more money. I think that currently I'll be looking lens for landscape for now. Will definitely use pano pro in the future. Been looking at things like that for a while now.

Hello everybody.
I have a question about putting the bottom case (plate) back.
Is there a special (or recommended) order to put the screws in to ensure that the bottom case is properly aligned? To avoid wobbling, creaking etc.
Maybe there is some kind of a "service manual" for the Air 2010? (there used to be one for the original Air).

Hi all
i just picked up the new 27" imac and switched it on. And it is constantly humming with a low dimming sound. Its high enough to notice it when around 2 meters from the machine.
Is this normal on all imacs? i must admit im getting pretty tired of listening to it so if that is the standard I dont look forward to using my imac :(

Cool. So far I have just been right clicking "set as desktop" off the images themselves. I haven't added any folder to the desktop/wallpaper preferences pane - is this why my wallpaper last night didn't "stick" after shutting down? It went back to the default wallpaper this morning when I turned it on.

So far it's been very intuitive and easy to learn and convert from windows though!

That is just a bunch of mac apps. The client I am doing this for does not even own a mac I don't think. If you look at this page they just want some like this where it says "sign up for news letter".

The thing is they are not great at using computers and they do not want to file all the emails that come in from that form. They want all the email address that come from that form to go to one database. That they can later send newsletters too. Same as that site. It is quite common, I see those on half the sites I go to....

i was trying to set up a bluetooth mouse and one of the devices on the bluetooth list i didn't recognize. i clicked it and i think it sent a number out to the bluetooth device to type in so it could link to my mac.
after that i realized it was my neighbor's mac.
does this mean all they have to do is type the number and they can get into my computer? all my photos went missing yesterday and i found the the iphoto file mysteriously moved to another folder with some other photos which i couldn't possibly have done myself since i haven't accessed that file recently.
also just now i noticed that the "bluetooth file exchange" app is suddenly open.
what should i do?

and people have two legs. Of course it isn't common knowledge, that still doesn't not make it a huge security breach. Obviously Apple thought people could figure it out if they released a security update just for this. Does apple normally wait for just one bug? Usually in security updates it is multiple bugs I think.

thanks so much for the replies. i gave the ps3mediaserver app a try and the results were better than i expected. i was worried that on the fly transcoding would degrade video to webcam quality or something! hopefully between that and the wd nas, i'll have a decent set of options for downloaded content.
and fingers crossed that either a more competent browser or a better canadian netflix selection will show up on the horizon someday.
in the meantime i just looked at the trailer for wipeout HD fury, @-SD- you have a surprising insight into exactly the type of game that i'd enjoy, thanks! :)

There's no way to protect images/pdf's etc as they should be read by the operating system and the programs.
It's fairly easy to protect a cd when it's accessed by a written program, for example with games where the loader takes care of the copy protection.
For example when someone has opened the PDF how will you prohibit that people cut-n-paste it?
I know I was not giving you a hint here about software, just outlining the problems you might get.
