What I have heard from others having the same issue is that they would put your given name as the last name (as it is the index in their db) and put the "FNU" (First Name Unknown) under the first name. I know, this is ridiculous as you have a first name ! Hope they have something like a "LNU" as well

As per my understanding here is how it is supposed to work
- One ONLY has to say whether he/she is Authorized to work for any employer in an unrestricted manner
- One ONLY has to say if he/she has a security clearance
- One ONLY has to say if he/she needs a visa sponsership now or in future
- Certain jobs may need that one has to be a US Citizen (not sure about this) - but there must be a valid reason as to why the job needs a US Citizen
Once an employment is offered, the employee has upto 72 hours from the day of joining to provide proof of work authorization and complete the i 9 form. The authorization must be original and the employer must verify this and take a copy and place it in the employee's folder.

I am trying to send AC21 letter to USCIS through my attorney. My attorney want the LC filing papers from my previous employer.(so that he can prove that my current job is same or similar)
So if we change our job using EAD, do we need to have LC filing paper from our ex employer for invoking AC21?.

I'm confused - Everyone who has a 140 is supposed to have a Labor and very likely that will be more than 365 days old. So why do anyone need 140 approval in that sense ?
The reason i'm getting nuts for 140 approval because i can't safely switch to a EAD or get a Longer duration H1B ( 3 yrs after 140 approval). I'm in major Limbo with some other folks at NSC for last 13 months just for a EB3(140) - My friends got approval in 6-8 months from TSC or if its a EB2(140) at Nebraska.

Thanks for your response. Only NLSUBBU has had some experience. I have seen his messages in some other queries too. But more often, I have seen that people suggest that its better to get a H1-B stamped, just to make sure that you don' t need to renew your AP every year.
The expense is about the same, as you need to renew AP every year and H1 only once in 3 years.

I think when you renew the H1B with the same employer. You are back to H1B status from Parolee status. SO I guess you can do a H1B extension with a different company later...just my thoughts

If spouse apply for Social Security card, will she lose her H4 status. Or the status changes after she starts using the EAD for work.

I have gone thru this exercise. There is no Individual health insurance plan in TX that covers maternity. I am expecting a baby in few weeks and switched whole family into my employer's plan few months ago and pay the difference from my pocket. If you have more specific questions PM me.

Out of curiosity, I called the congresswoman's office to ask if she would be re-sponsoring the visa recapture bill. The person on the phone asked me to call back next week, because at present she was considering about it.
Can we all try to call her office and request her to re sponsor this bill, as this will help the housing crisis.
I am posting a link, you all can call her office and even explain to the person about why this bill is so important. ( wait to be transferred to the specific person who handles immigration issues, don't talk to the phone operator as she would care less)

India is still in my heart and love everything about her. For me the people hold the charm and since I have lost them, it is hard to consider going back... When I first came almost 15 years ago, I didn't want to stay here but now I 'can't' go back.. One of life's twisted ironies.

you have vacation time, use it to get your green card faster.....
you have money, donate to the advocacy fund, or sponsor a friend.....
you are curious, but not sure what to do, decide now - time is running out.......
you have no idea what the advocacy is all about, ask a question here.....
Work to get the change you want instead of reacting to adverse immigration laws that affect you.....
Be pro-active rather than re-active.
