Hello friends,
My prority will be current in Aug, next month. I filed I485 last july and my I140 is also approved long back in 2006. After filing I485 i do not see any LUD or anything on my case.
What will be the chances to get my I485 approve ? Do i need to followup / take appointment ( Infopass) etc ?
Appriciate your thoughts...

Are there any PERM approvals with priority date after DEC 08? I believe a lot of people on IV have already passed this stage (Many may have EAD by now) and there may not be many in this PERM queue. There are people like us who are still stuck with PERM and need to hear from fellow IVians if they are aware of the reasons for the PERM delays. It is taking more than 10 months to get the regular PERM approvals.

From my passive reading about PERM on this forum and other forums, it seems like DOL is currently processing Nov 2008 PERM cases. So, I doubt you will see many people who have approved PERMs from after Dec 2008. But hang in tight, your time will come!

Sorry for not being clear in C & D. I am in US. The question I meant to ask is about the the time that I am not physically present in US i.e. If I went for vacction in India for a month, can that one month be included in my H1B1 extension since I was not physically present in US. In other words I would file for 1.1 year extension as opposed to 1 year
One the same topic, a friend of mine got a three year extension post 6 years of H1B. When asked, his lawyer informed, if you have an approved I140 then you are elegible for 3 years extension as opposed to 1 year. Is this true. Can some refer to the right CFR's

HELP get us out of our 'Great Depression'.
American businesses are facing a serious crisis: an unprecedented sixteen-month restriction on access to new H-1B visas for temporary professional employees, coupled with an ever-present, continually growing, and now crippling employment-based (EB) green card backlog for permanent hires. I urge you to take immediate steps to fix this problem in the lame duck session after the November elections.
In support of SKIL and other relief measures for High Skilled Immigrants:
A. NATIONAL & ORGANIZATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS - Will a capitalist country like America support the notion that a worker's 'country of origin' matters more on the job than 'meritrocracy, hard work and results'?
HARD TO BELIEVE? Just look at US companies and universities are unable to freely deploy and redeploy high skill knowledge workers that can help them meet the organizations' economic objectives and US competiteveness interests! C. HUMAN RIGHTS & WOMEN RIGHTS - Will a leading Human Rights supporter like America support the notion that 'women should be forced to sit at home' only because they are spouses of highly skilled labor and hence have to be 'forced to have babies because they are on a H4'?

Just look at wives of H1B workers, many with advanced education and work experience, stuck at home and at risk for social, psychological and physiological degradation and abuse only because they are trapped within the 4 walls and cannot participate freely in the land of opportunity and hard work? They are, for all practical purposes, subject to the restrictions of the Middle-Ages women/wives that were forced out of opportunity and development.
It is EASY for us to get misled by hype and hyperbole when talking about immigration. For a land built by immigration, the very title cannot and should not become a lightening rod!

I renewed at SFO via mail, got it in 3.5 weeks, no problems at all, my requirement was not urgent. They have number you can call and ask for status, people are nice to talk to and you can ask them to expediate it you are in a hurry. Chicago might be the same.

You can bind them quite easily, assuming your data sources implement the correct interfaces (I believe IBindable/IBindableList).
You would use the metadata table to fill the list for the combobox and then bind the list to the 'degree' fields on your persons table
There are numerous ways to actually accomplish this, I'll run through a straight forward method using the datasource wizard
1. Drop a combobox onto the page
2. Go to the 'Data Sources' window which is usually docked on the left and add a new data source
3. Pick your data provider (I've picked database)
4. Set up your connection to connect to the database. I've just included the connection data in the application for the sake of simplicity
5. Choose the table you wish to bind to - this will be the 'metadata' table with your degrees
6. Finish the wizard, now in the datasources window you should have your table visible.
7. Drag the whole table onto the combobox
8. The program will assign the DisplayMember and ValueMember of the combobox automatically, you can modify it in the combobox properties - the ValueMember is the underlying identifier (the ID column) whereas the DisplayMember is the value you will actually see in the box
9. Repeat steps 1-6 to add your 'persons' table to the datasources window (you can use the same connection as you used before, you won't need to add another)
10. Once you have added the persons table, in the datasources window expand the persons table so you can see all of the actual columns of the table.
11. Find the column you will be binding to (the degree1 column for instance) and drag that onto the combobox.
12. Finished!
Of course you will need to make sure that a certain record from your persons table is selected as the datasource contains a record pointer - you can always drop a BindingNavigator control on there and associate it with the datasource but it does look a bit 'Microsoft Accesss' so I don't use them. Of course you will probably be getting to your persons form via a persons list in the first place so naturally you will be passing in the persons 'ID' and finding that person in the table using the ID
Either way your combobox is bound - your metadata is bound to the item list of the combobox and the persons tables 'degree1' field is bound to the selected value of the box. Visual Studio tends to be quite intelligent in this respect - if you drag a data column onto a bindable control it knows that it should bind the 'value' of that control to the data source. If you drag an entire data table or data container onto the control it knows to bind any 'list' objects to it.
VS 2008 will have already added the necessary code to 'bind' the objects at runtime - check your 'onload' function in the VB code
Of course you've only really got one thing to bind to on a textbox so you get different functionality (with respect though you can actually bind to any property of a control but most of the time why would you want to?)

Has anybody recently applied for a Schengen Visa, if yes, can you please let me know what you did for the travel insurance. The insurance from my employer (Humana) says they cover international but do not have a letter that states the same and Swedish consulate website says the letter should specifically say "International Coverage".

I was in the same boat as you. I did not get my wife's AOS receipt but all others ( 5 out of 6) . But when the FP notices came with her AOS receipt number on it, I thought USCIS may have misplaced the receipt.
Right after the fingerprint, we received this LUD on her AOS case:

Current Status: Notice returned as undeliverable.
On October XX, 2007, the post office returned our last written notice on this case as undeliverable. This can have serious effects on the processing of this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update the mailing address so this notice can be re-sent.
I was shocked. I have emailed the company law firm and I'm awaiting response from them.... Have they mistyped their own address since that is supposed to go to them? Or USCIS is just pulling my legs?
