most of us are saying that the outside is great but the entire inside needs to be redisigned anyway for the hot under the paste merom and the new chip set for santarosa, duo2 is a different board too i think. my point is this, because intel promised cool chips apple discarded some thermal buffer when they madi mbp less than 1 inch, now their faced with a redesign for a processor that will be 0utdated in 3 months or the will spend thwe time to give us a place holder that wont cook our sausage.

I was really looking forward to this, but not having the maps on the device is a no go for me. I ditched tom tom in favour of a stand alone Garmin years ago and haven't looked back since. I'm currently using navigon on the iPhone as my Garmin unit is a bit flakey these days.
Sort it out Garmin please! Hopefully this will be rectified before the app is available in the Uk store..... I hope anyway

I think its a great application, I use it for basic layouts and word processing. Its not quite as good as keynote, but it is still a solid program with only a few things that bother me.

The line was pretty mad, but it seemed to move rather quickly once the doors were opened at 6pm. My hat is off to those who in the queue who had a word with the queue cutters as well as the Apple staff. (Dear queue cutters get with the program, or go back to your friends at Microsoft.)
I was amazed at the number of people in the queue that didn't buy Leopard. LOL... was the lame free t-shirt really worth your time in the queue?
I was a bit embarrassed by all the hot women who asked us what we were queuing up for. Oops, was I really standing in a queue for 2 hours on a Friday night. Hell ya! I saw the ladies later with a big box in my pocket.

Good point there! I think Apple may in fact be more likely to not want anyone else to get control and 'bastardize' the use. I think it would be good for Apple to gain 'ownership' but not to exert the right that this might entail.
That's the trouble with trademarks, they are use-it-or-lose-it propositions. You can't simply hold them in trust without actively defending them :(

A co-worker and I called around and found three 16gb at a store. Went to get one apiece and luckily got the last two. They were reluctant to sell them to us for some reason though. :D

I am sorry, but you can't compare the stability of Windows (of any flavor) with OS X. I have never, repeat never, in 2 years of running OS X had a single crash. I can tell you that my office machines running 2000, are regularly down.

Macs, since they are built on Unix, run processes at night that clean up logs files, optimize the drive (Windows term is defrag), etc.
I don't know if this would be the cause of the noise but I've noticed before sometimes my processors would be up in the 40-50% region when I'm not doing anything, and a look at the Activity Monitor would reveal the Unix processes that were running in the background.

Well, *I* never really respected the Consumerist, because it has a history of blindly following sensationalist leads and has a marked anti-corporate leaning. I'm more inclined to respect sources that are objective and don't have a mission that blatantly compromises that objectivity. So sorry, you'll have to find additional evidence. at the moment I've got an old non unibody MacBook Pro with an ACD like in the picture below. As apple has switched to the unibody models they started to put a black bezel on the the ACDs and a black keyboard to the MacBooks. What I love about the silver-only-design is, that the content on the screen is much more dominant, the MacBook and the ACD seems to fade away when you are working with them. I just wanted to know what you think about the new vs. old design.

For the specific Mac models (like the oogles of PowerMac revisions), would it be wise to just link directly to AppleSpec instead of making our own? We already have [[PowerMac]] with links to [[PowerMac_G4]] which then links to [[PowerMac_specificModel]]. Maybe the links on the PowerMac_G4 page should be to the AppleSpec PDFs for those models?
